[IT'S MEME TIME AGAIN]

I NEED...A DISTRACTION!

Questions meme, you know how it goes! I play Mithos and Firebird, and you can ask about Lark if you want.

I probably won't pick up full steam on answering questions until tonight after class, Persona answers may be vague, etc.

Mau's canon is a YA Terry Pratchett book, but not set in Discworld. One might assume that it's set in the South Pacific, but as the Author's Note makes clear, "Nothing could be further from the truth!!!!!"

Which is to say, it's set in AU!South Pacific in what... should... be the Victorian Era, but isn't, and it is all about SCIENCE and RELIGION and JOURNEYS OF PERSONAL DISCOVERY and THE IMPORTANCE AND SUBJECTIVITY OF TRUTH and HUMANISM and it just gets me very excited about critical thinking... I am not sure what else to say without spoilers...

I don't know, it's just one of my favorite books, even though it apparently had a very poor copy editor who didn't notice inconsistencies such as a club that mysteriously is an axe on one page. I like the philosophy it presents and think it manages to wander through some dicey topics in tasteful ways, and do you want me to vague it up a little more?

Also it has a footnote about at tree climbing octopus.

How did the giant frogdog come into being?

Mau and Van discussed naming it Whistle or Puff (as it is meant to be big and fluffy), but so far no solid plans! idk, I'm sure it will adorable.

What are Mithos's favorite and least favorite things about Aather?

(look I have a kitty too)

Mau is constantly amazed by the variety of skills, magical and otherwise, that people have in Aather. He loves being able to learn about different worlds and the different ways that things can work -- alternate universe theories are a big thing for him in canon, and being able to make contact is very exciting. It's also a great experience for him to have real peers, but that's not something he consciously appreciates.

He has similar frustrations to the ones you described with the world system, though, for similar reasons. But I'd say the hardest thing about Aather for Mau is just that it isn't home. His identity and sense of purpose are interwoven with his Nation. It's a struggle for him to maintain a clear sense of self when he's separated from that.

Have you been surprised by how Mithos reacted to any particular memories?
