Put simply it's because of Hod. 8D; He got a slew of Hod-related memories this realm, and what Van and him both did and wanted to do to revive their lost continent, and THE CONSEQUENCESSsss were extensive. He remembers seeing a half-replicated Hod reborn again and feeling like it was a shell. His whole arc of deeply wanting to bring his world back versus just letting it it go forever is pretty mixed up and internal but it is why, in the heat of the moment with a giant kraken wigging out and Mal - who belongs to this world - wanting to blast those things enough to sic Onyx on them (and some vehement Onyx members jumped to knives and whips instantly like douchebags) - in general he just didn't want it to friggin escalate anymore, and then there is his experience with Hod. It's why he worded it the way he did - "are the relics of a dead world really worth anything" or something i'm not looking it up - very abruptly he was kind of reacting to Mal wanting to leave a part of the world - or, likely, a person - destroyed, and he's never remotely been forced to face his own feelings on Hod or his sister.

Soo it was just kind of a. Heat of the moment clumsy yell. It isn't even that he trusts Mal that much but he was sympathizing with her by accident 8D; which he knows is stupid when she could be acting out of storylock or being a crazy jerk, in hindsight.

But seriously sasuke was chucking knives and dino was whipping people and viola was all DON'T OPRESS ONYX YOU ONYX RACIST!11 And he was just very like 8D; is this worth it. in that moment. Whatever Mal can fuck over whatever it is if she wants, if it's even going to fuck anything over. At least she is doing things.

HAHA uh Guy would have to be a huge sustained dick and start acting like one all the time and also using everything he knew about Mithos's sordid history to make his life hell in public and being generally malicious --

-- and Mithos would yell and cry and be furious but still just be like, okay clearly the darkness ate a piece of Spark's brain and we should punch it out and jesus him now? Because Spark in his right mind doesn't do that 9_9

IDK MAN I TOLD YOU GUY IS ONE OF HIS ANCHORS; Mithos doesn't quit anchor people. YOU CAN TRY AND MAKE HIM and hurt his feelings and reputation quite horribly and he will still hang onto you with a deathgrip, that is just how he is. His whole canon schtick which turns him into the villain is not being able to let people go ever, with his sister as exhibit A and Lloyd's dad as exhibit B! He is obviously not a liferuiner for it in Aather but that desire and ability to grip on is still there in full force. You did this to yourself Guy Cecil!!

actually i am curious, what DOES Mithos think..of... Guy, like, as a person? Not really RELATIONSHIP MEME but if he was describing Guy to someone else (someone he trusted enough to actually give an honest description) what would he say? What's his current understanding of him?

Guy definitely got SOME of that (he thinks her denying onyx wasn't as a whole acting was wrong cuz... they were, that was the whole point) but also "some of us aren't being violent" which yes, and "Mal's hurting that's enough" which he sees as legit (if something was fucking luke up he would pretty much just stab it so) EXCEPT for how if she hadn't... determinedly grabbed it herself without saying anything and spent all her turns saying "LISTEN TO ME" instead of like. "THE LOSER WHO BROUGHT US INTO DARKNESS IS IN THIS SWORD!!" or something. It was an argument and everyone was panicking, he definitely didn't have any time to really argue. He is not currently mad at viola at all, just stressed in general! when guy turned on mithos to say onyx was fighting them, he meant that as a reality check - we are in opposition with our friends, verbal or more, while a giant kracken is whaling at us, maybe just give them their items??

Please don't worry, of course there's more to it than just that, the question had little to do with it though so I didn't go into it.

hrrf, sorry, it's specifically being compared to racism that makes me a bit d-do not want to actually… give that impression… yeah. '^' I LOVED THAT WHOLE THING, so. ♥ yay.
