I know who you are, it says, and I know what you are, and that you don't have any business here --

“But you do,” says Mithos behind you. He's a tired, steady voice in your ear, a light hand on your shoulder. “I don't know what Dream's thinking, but everyone is welcome here in my heart; just keep in mind it's a real mess right now.”

Your vision clears.

He's strong and very fast, though he's not using magic or artes, just pure brute force.

[fighting defensively, using his shield to deflect as many of the blows as he can, just trying to let the Mithos wear himself out]

He's not wearing out, but you could probably maneuver around and get the box. Or flee into one of the paths. Whatever you prefer.

[let's maneuver, sort of pushing Mithos off as he sidesteps, trying to work his way closer while keeping angry Mithos distracted with trying to kill him]

It clicks back into place, and Mithos immediately goes transparent, insubstantial.

Mithos is shrieking angrily, wordlessly, trying to stab you -- and failing -- and trying again -- and failing --
