There's a moment of nothing but light and sensation. Someone's looking you over and the scrutiny prickles and burns – it's nearly a physical pain, like fine little hooks digging past your skin, into the very meat of you. I know who you are, it says, and I know what you are, and that you don't have any business here --

“But you do,” says Mithos behind you. He's a tired, steady voice in your ear, a light hand on your shoulder. “I don't know what Dream's thinking, but everyone is welcome here in my heart; just keep in mind it's a real mess right now.”

Your vision clears.

Yeah. So it's his side, not mine. But... I'm sure I mean it. It sounds like the kind of resolution I would make.

[passes the memory over (from there to the end of the scene.)]

. . . he's still looking down at it for a bit after the memory ends, expression very complicated.

[pretend I had my first-game VA for that conversation, okay]

...

"...that's some resolution."

Mm. "The chance to make things right..."

"If you could."

...something like that sounded like me, sure.

"Emil's right, you know. You are pretty amazing."

H. . . hey. . . no fair.

"Huh?"

S-starting in on compliments all of a sudden!

"Jeez . . . guess I don't get to make you blush that often."

There's nothing amazing about it, anyway. I guess I just had a lot of time to think...

"Yeah, and how many people come to that conclusion after thinking a lot?

... anyway."

Mm?

"Anyway, we're here now."

We sure are.

Take care of that flower, all right?

"You know I will!"

Yeah.

[tugs at his hair]

Which way back to True Heart? I still gotta give him these boxes back.

"Just look up, and I'll send you there."

[grips his hand one last time, then looks up]
