There's a moment of nothing but light and sensation. Someone's looking you over and the scrutiny prickles and burns – it's nearly a physical pain, like fine little hooks digging past your skin, into the very meat of you. I know who you are, it says, and I know what you are, and that you don't have any business here --

“But you do,” says Mithos behind you. He's a tired, steady voice in your ear, a light hand on your shoulder. “I don't know what Dream's thinking, but everyone is welcome here in my heart; just keep in mind it's a real mess right now.”

Your vision clears.

Sorry for upsetting you earlier... it's a relief to hear and see all this.

"In the middle of the atrocious stuff, huh."

"'Course it is. It's not gonna go away."

He leans his head on your shoulder.

[makes a short unpleasant laugh in his chest]

For a moment I thought it had.

". . . do I scare you? Sometimes."

You probably should more often, all things considered... but I think this is the first time you've ever scared me.

"Oh."

He lets out a long breath.

"That's good to know. I worry."

[pets his hair]

I have gotten pretty angry, but I think that was all pretty clear when it happened.

"Yeah, well. What's too big to be forgiven . . .

I kinda miss not knowing, a little bit. There was a time our stuff wasn't always so heavy, you know? But sometimes that's just how it has to go for a while."

... Yeah.

". . .

I think maybe I just need to draw you as a monster more when the timing's better."

. . .

[laughs weakly]

Bringing that up now-- I still have no idea what that was about.

"Oh. Lloyd told me you showed him stuff. And it was really weird, I mean, how do you even figure that out it's not like it comes to mind at all -- so I figured you had to be a detective. About sex."

. . . Sex detective. . .

"Like a title, you know?"

[c...cracks up]

He snickers a bit himself.

Well. So glad you enjoyed the results of the lesson.

When you're in the mood we can all laugh about this later.

You probably can't see it from this angle but he's a heart, you can feel him blushing -- though he answers normally enough.

"Yeah. A couple of days. Then I'll be back together."
