[MEMORY # 7 (SIGNIFICANT NEGATIVE)]
* Betraying Lloyd's party.
Earned in Game 24: Surveys for Madame White.
Spoilers everywhere! Game version here. Manga version from here until page 24. Manga is infinitely better at showing the DRAMA, but is not entirely accurate.
Lloyd: I hate what you…what Cruxis does. Too many people have died. People from Sylvarant, people from Tethe’alla…Desians and Renegades and members of Cruxis… They’re all victims. I refuse to accept the idea that it’s okay to sacrifice people for a cause. It’s not okay to lose your life. No life should be born for the sole purpose of dying. I won’t sacrifice the world to save Colette. I’m not giving up until I find a way for everyone to live.
Mithos: Wow, that was an amazingly corny speech. Congratulations.
[Mithos emerges from Altessa's house.]
Lloyd: …Mithos?
[Mithos casts spells that kill the Renegade soldiers and knock Yuan to the ground.]
Mithos: Did you think I didn’t notice what was going on? How pathetic. I had Pronyma keep tabs on Kratos, since it seemed he was leaking information to Lloyd’s group.
Yuan: Dammit! Yggdrasil! How the hell did you find out?…
Lloyd: [startled] What?!
Mithos: That was a pretty amusing scheme you had going. [approaches Yuan] Hard to believe those filthy Renegades that were always getting in my way…were actually led by you. If it weren’t for my sister’s wishes to spare your life, I’d kill you right now.
[Mithos starts kicking Yuan.]
Mithos: Ahahahaha, haha… Ahahahahahahahahaha!
Lloyd: Stop it! Wh…what are you?…
[The rest of the party, Altessa and Tabatha appear at the scene.]
Altessa: What’s going on?!…
Genis: Mithos…so it’s true…
Mithos: …What’s true? That you shouldn’t have trusted me? Good guess, Genis. Because I didn’t trust you either!
[Mithos launches a spell at Presea.]
Presea: Ahh!
[Before Presea could take the hit…]
Altessa: Ugggghhh!
[Altessa shields Presea, and is knocked unconscious, heavily injured.]
Tabatha: MITHOS…SAVED ME…
Mithos: Shut up!!
[Mithos hits her with a spell. She falls.]
Tabatha: MITHOS…SAVED…ME…MITHOS…
Raine: How could you do that?! You even risked your life to save her!
Genis: Mithos, why? Why are you doing this? How could you hurt Tabatha and Altessa! You got along so well with them!
Mithos: Tabatha! That doll looks so disturbingly like my sister… I never could stand her! She’s a failed vessel who couldn’t accept my sister’s soul! Just looking at her makes me sick!
Lloyd: …You little bastard! How dare you betray my best friend!
[Lloyd performs Demon Fang, wounding Mithos.]
Genis: Lloyd, stop! Please! You’re both my friends!
[Suddenly, Pronyma appears.]
Pronyma: Lord Yggdrasil, your wounds are not yet healed. Please leave this to the angels.
[Mithos transforms into Yggdrasil.]
Mithos: …All right.
[Mithos, Pronyma and Kratos vanish from the scene. Three angels appear.]
Lloyd: Out of the way!
[Lloyd’s group defeats the three angels.]
Mithos: [voice only] No life should be born for the sole purpose of dying? What do you think those Exspheres are that you’re using?
+ He knows Lloyd and his friends, but he is their enemy and he was spying on them and then betrayed them. He now knows most of their names and faces (except Zelos, Sheena and Regal) and some sense of how he felt about them.
+ For some reason the idea of 'finding a way to make everyone live' is laughable. Lloyd's ideas are laughable and naive in general.
+ Oh look there's Yuan and Kratos! Oh look they were betraying me too.
+ He kills people without caring about it. He kicks Yuan and gets a sick sense of joy out of it and only Martel's wish keeps him from killing Yuan. He nearly kills Altessa and Tabatha and thinks they deserve it.
+ 'Desians,' 'Renegades,' 'Cruxis.' He leads Cruxis. Cruxis is sacrificing people for something. Pronyma is an ally. Renegades are enemies. Anyone he doesn't have a personal tie to is just cannon fodder.
+ He can grow up at will (so maybe he is not actually a teenager? UMMM), his alter ego is named Lord Yggdrasil, and he commands angels who are willing to die for him. He's weakened and wounded in this memory from something he doesn't yet remember, but still powerful as hell.
+ Tabatha is a robotic doll! He tried to put his sister's soul in her at some point for...some reason. What happened to his sister?
+ Exspheres are dead people. . .?
+ ALL THE FEELINGS. There is a lot of fresh rage and regret going on underneath his being a bitter dick. His original party, the only friends he had, have abandoned him! He didn't trust Lloyd's party but they'd already sort of wormed their way into his heart and in this scene he throws all that away. Genis doesn't understand! BETRAYAL FIESTA!
+ His crazy isn't a one-off thing like he was hoping; it's consuming and permanent and it makes him dangerous.

+ Faith now has to deal with having the antagonist Mithos in his head too. Do not want! They are very different, very strong personalities; this memory + its implications are hugely removed from almost all the others Faith has received; it is an injection of straight-up crazy where there wasn't any before. How they'll integrate is TBD.
