antreegonist: Mithos: sad/denial/despair/tears (no rhyme or reason to be found.)
* "My name is Mithos. Mithos Yggdrasil." Meeting Kratos, pleading his case to the Tethe'allan court and failing.

Earned from Game 100: Cohabitation for Cheshire.

snip. )

+ This is one of the defining moments of Mithos's life being shitty as a kid, a massive pileup of rejection and racism and failure and the deaths of thousands of people he legitimately tried to save and felt responsible for. It happened well before he ever had any real power or tried saving/destroying the world and it very nearly shattered him back then.
+ This is also what shoved Mithos onto the 'let's be a lone hero doing things normal people would consider suicidally insane' path -- he was completely unable to make either of the warring countries listen to him, and he was weak, so he chose to gain so much power he could make both sides stop in their tracks and quit fighting.
+ The one bright spot in the memory is Kratos Aurion, and this is also the memory that best defines why he loved Kratos so much that it got twisted and obsessive later -- Kratos is legit the only human in that time period who ever believed in Mithos and looked past his race and gave him the chance to make something of himself.
+ Martel is a more steadying presence/voice of reason in this, and he also learns how conflicted their beginning relationship with Yuan was.
+ . . . gosh this is shareable :'D . . .
+ On the whole, though, it's all backstory memory, so he'll have a lot of feelings about it when he takes it but they should be mostly private and he will keep rolling.
antreegonist: Mithos: outcry/surprise/derp (I'm a toaster!)
* NO ONE LIKES YOU, MIMIC CHESTS!

Won from Game 98: Chariots for Green Knight and Narcissus.

Yeah this one's straightforward. Original party going through some dungeon, looting chests, and one happening to be a mimic monster! Narrowly defeating it but also getting royally beaten up in the process. :'D

+ He already knew mimics sucked, but WHATEVER NOW THEY SUCK MORE.
+ On a more positive note, the first memory he's received where his entire party fought together and covered each others' backs. Kind of cool!
antreegonist: Mithos: symbolic/party(Kratos/Martel/Yuan) (first movement.)
* Martel tops Yuan and that's adorable.

Won from Game 97: Charades for Dream.

Basically take this video and look at what happens around 00:30, 3:50, and 5:00. This memory is just a big montage of cute moments like that which Mithos was around for. None of it is actually new info, but. Origipartyyy.

+ Cute cute cuuuuuuuute. /)^o^(\
+ Except Martel is dead and Yuan will never forgive me, oh yeah. <( .____. )
+ Overall it is an enjoyable memory that will induce a lot of nostalgic fondness but also sads, which is pretty par for the course with all his triv positives now. Oh well, nothing to be done. He is pretty okay with this one not being shareable, though -- some moments are just private.
antreegonist: Mithos: neutral/dynamic/blank (ring of bright water.)
* First death.

Earned in Game 94: Music for the Unicorn.

welp )

+ ........................................
antreegonist: Mithos: magic/attack/other(Yuan) (no.)
* THOSE FUCKING SOUL GUNDAMS.

Won from Game 92: Feasts for Anansi.

In the final dungeon of Symphonia the party runs into three robot sub-bosses -- the Fugitive (fear, selfishness, cowardice); Judged (sins and the ability/inability to face them) and Neglected (internal bitterness and self-loathing). They are all representations of the pain in Mithos's heart! They have to kill these bosses in order to make taking on Mithos easier, because Mithos's very final boss form is . . . a fourth magic demon robot that is a combination of the first three. Yes.

This memory doesn't cover those confrontations, but rather his creation of the robots and the circumstances around it, probably a couple of thousand years prior to any of Lloyd's party even being born. That was probably a period of Mithos's life where he was starting to come out of the emotionlessness that accompanies the lifeless being state, and didn't want to because it was easier to keep not feeling feelings, particularly when the vast majority were super negative. His solution was to delay the return of emotions by literally booting the worst of them out of himself and crafting the robots so he didn't just have a back room full of emotions gunk somewhere.

(They still came back after, but that is another memory.)

+ SOME PEOPLE WRITE EMO POETRY, I MAKE EMO SOUL ROBOTS
+ In hindsight, that was kind of stupid; did he seriously have nothing better to do with his powers . . . ssssideeye . . .
+ The whole embarrassment aspect aside, this is an extremely unpleasant memory with some alarming implications about how he casually chucked out bits of his soul! It is also full of blatant self-directed hatred as well as hatred of others, which are things he tries super hard to shift away from in Aather. His general sentiment towards it is going to be 'llllet's move on now' and it will probably put him in a mood for a while after.
antreegonist: Mithos: derp/outcry/surprise/dynamic (he punched a whale right in the face!)
* And then Yuan got food poisoning.

Won from Game 91: Oregon Trail for Cheshire.

+ Yuan and Martel were in love and Mithos kinda shipped them in his mildly trolly little brother way.
+ Martel's cooking was terrifying.
+ One day she made him lunch and then he ate it in front of a horrified Kratos and Mithos despite knowing how terrible it was because yes.
+ FOOD POISONING ALL NIGHT. Poor Yuan.
+ This is something Mithos was there for/more information on past relationships etc. -- fleshing out how he felt about Yuan back in the day, mostly.
antreegonist: Mithos: creation/magic/party(Martel) (émeraude.)
* Playing music for Luna and Aska.

Won from Game 89: Viola's heart.

Another headcanon memory. Luna represents the Moon and Aska represents the Sun; they are collectively the Summon Spirits of Light and come as a package deal. You have to make a pact with the both of them together! And while Luna may stay in one place, Aska roves unless he's called down by the music from a special kind of panpipe.

I'm figuring that they both liked the pipe music for its own sake, though, and they liked to sit back and chill while Mithos played for them sometimes -- probably at dusk or dawn hours when neither of them was in majority. It's a very quiet and peaceful sort of memory; bittersweet, like all his Summon Spirit memories are, but calming as well.

+ More of that charged sort of dere that comes with remembering the Summon Spirits as friends/people in little ways.
+ A rekindling of interest in music; he has panpipes from way back when and sort of learned how to play them, but for a while they were filed away as 'a thing Martel liked to do' rather than something he enjoyed doing for his own sake. So maybe sometimes he will play up on the clifftop, make up tunes, etc.
antreegonist: Mithos: symbolic/party(Kratos/Martel/Yuan) (first movement.)
* Ratatosk is tsundere take #23956: "You're actually really nice, aren't you?"

Won from Game 87: Plants for Three of Three.

+ AFTER DISCUSSION WITH [personal profile] squirreledaway this involves Ratatosk cockblocking the party from going after a monster and being like >( IT'S JUST A BABY DON'T ATTACK IT IT'S SCARED YOU ASSHOLES at the party...c-cute...
+ idk little headcanon skit RATATOSK TSUNS AND IS CRANKY AND MISTRUSTFUL AT MITHOS'S PARTY and then he does something really cute and the Yggdrasil siblings call him on it and then he TSUNS SOME MORE IN RESPONSE OH NO!
+ confirmation that he was for sure pacted to Ratatosk once! Though he hasn't yet received the memory of that yet, or the nature of his own pact, which is why he is a bit (unsure) about Emil's and its split personality effect.
+ bittersweetness -- Ratatosk is confirmed alive and he and Mithos will move on somehow, but their previous relationship can't ever be reclaimed. He feels this for every Summon Spirit but Ratatosk was definitely one he was very close to/most invested in, because of course an integral part of saving the world was saving Ratatosk's tree.
+
antreegonist: Mithos: malice/injury/laugh (hey baby; wanna kill all humans?)
* Kratos fleeing Cruxis with Anna.

Won in Game 85: Noble roles for Mother.

haha oh god. )

+ Ssssso he killed Lloyd's mom and took back Lloyd's dad for completely selfish reasons, that happened. That happened.
+ Realization that Cruxis and the Desians are one and the same; that he is also responsible for the torture camps and human subjugation by half-elves -- that is, thousands of years of systemized torture and killing to produce Exspheres.
+ Knowledge of the Angelus Project's nature, though that won't ever be directly addressed onscreen because canon is super vague about it and Mithos probably wouldn't even have been that interested if Kratos weren't involved.
+ Knowledge of what Lloyd's mom looks like :'D They never met directly but I'm pretty sure Mithos saw a picture of her to snarl at or something.
+ Knowledge of the 'stone cold asshole who enjoys casually causing other people pain' side of his insanity, which he vaguely knew about but never had to confront so overtly in his memories before.
antreegonist: Mithos: symbolic/destroyed Exsphere (Default)
* Magic play--sculpting with wind, engraving with fire.

Won in Game 83: Swans for Odile.

+ It is exactly what it sounds like! Playing around during origiparty's downtime, using his magic to do derpy creative things with wood and paper and soil and sand instead of fighting/specifically spellcasting. Probably got scolded a bit ("Just because you have a lot of power doesn't mean you don't need it all! Don't be frivolous with it!" "Yuaaaaan I'll take an orange gel when I'm done, lighten up!")
+ He has the skill for this, so he's already been toying with it mostly offscreen! It just gives him a few more ideas and more of an inclination to mess around once in awhile. Stuff like building sandcastles with the air and drawing with fire etc. etc. etc. He loves crafts anyway, it is not a stretch to apply touches of magic there since he can.
+ This is hindered because he is obviously super capped in Aather, though, and has to be careful about using what he does have anyway (there's dawn/dusk, and if there's a surprise deathgame he needs all the strength he has to revive), so. While he does do it in public it is usually nothing very big/sustained, and normally no more than once a day or so.
antreegonist: Mithos: shock/dynamic (over and over.)
* Impulsively saving Tabatha from falling rocks.

Earned from Game 81: Letters for Kiriko.

Manga version page 1, page 2; the game and manga versions are pretty much the same.

brief script snip )

+ ow rocks hurt when they hit you.
+ remembered siscon points.
+ something was wrong --
+ a bit more protectiveness toward people who resemble Martel (so, hi CC.)
+ a reminder that he hated Tabatha because she was a robot doll who failed to contain his sister's soul (he already has the memory of breaking her later and ranting about that . . .)
antreegonist: Mithos: happy/gesture/party(Martel) (just keep on trying.)
* Enchanting Yuan's lunch to look like eggs over rice.

Earned from Game 78: PARPY for Goldie and Maleficent.

image under cut! )

+ 5 trollstreak
+ 10 origiparty affection
+ knowledge that illusions are part of his skillset
+ I THINK THAT'S IT it's just a cute positive memory but without a lot of new content.
antreegonist: Mithos: asleep/derp/party(Martel/Kratos/Noishe) (I'll meet you there.)
* "I think what I'm doing may be wrong. And now that I've started to think that, I can't help but feel there's no meaning to life."

Won in the final push to free the Forest region from the darkness.

THAT'S DEFINITELY A DOG! )

+ A-AFFECTION FOR NOISHE
+ Impressions of Noishe being an old (old, old) friend! Definite conviction that Noishe can understand him! Noishe used to be party. 8(
+ Knowledge of the Protozoan legend. Lloyd your dog is even more magical than we suspected, sigh.
+ remembered definite tsundere for Lloyd Irving.
+ I had an existential crisis . . .
+ I had an existential crisis . . . all over Lloyd's dog . . .
+ FLOPPING ON ADMIRAL RIBBARK
+ TALKING TO CUTE ANIMALS -- wait he does that already.
antreegonist: Mithos: blank/neutral/distant (white noise.)
* Saving Genis from Pronyma.

Earned from Game 76: Exchanges with the Green Knight. Video until 2:25

+ oh fuck you, past me, there is totally a way to save everyone, bawwww
antreegonist: Mithos: grief/gesture/tears/other(Martel) (fading roses; this garden's over.)
* "I couldn't forgive the humans who killed her!"

Won from Game 75: Skillswap for Cheshire.

just a brief skit. )

+ :'D oh that...that explains a lot...
+ bluh bluh acknowledgement; I don't hate humans here.
+ I sure hated them a lot in the past though.
+ complex hatefriendship dynamics.
+ WHAT AM SUBTLETY???
+ this in no way preps him for the day he gets Martel's murder back, whoops.
antreegonist: Mithos: blush/derp/smile (oh love.)
* Getting called a pretty lady and hit on by a human.

Won in Game 73: Ethics for Rumpelstiltskin.

+ The human was one of his patients! He got kind of flustered, but did his job and got out of there as soon as he could. He probably...forgot to tell that guy he wasn't a lady, anyway. Whoops.
+ . . . yeah no he is so much more used to this in Aather that he'll just laugh it off when he takes it. If he needs to share a memory with someone for whatever reason, this is also one of the first ones he'll go for. HARMLESS EMBARRASSMENT.
antreegonist: Mithos: laugh/sincere/party(Genis) (starting out on a journey with you.)
* Fights and pacts with the Summon Spirits of Aselia. "I swear to revive the Great Tree and restore peace to the world. Will you help me?"

Earned from Game 69: Zelos's heart.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH MY GOD )

+ INFINITE DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITY POINTS
+ INFINITE BELIEF THAT YOU CAN DO ANYTHING WITH ENOUGH WILLPOWER
+ INFINITE HEARTBREAKING SENSE OF LOSS/DESIRE FOR ATONEMENT
+ something something Personae something duties and rules and bindings something something--in actual words, that's more understanding of how supernatural systems like this work, and even more significance attached to bonds, pacts, patronage and similar (though his principles on Sterling/Onyx remain firmly breakfast-oriented.)
+ about a day or so of wandering around dazed from sensory and mental overload, once he finally catches up on memories and takes it.
antreegonist: Mithos: serious (doesn't that sound familiar?)
* Giving his party's 'memories' life to guard Niflheim.

Won from Game 68: Costumes for Jacobi.

Niflheim, in Symphonia, is a shadow world full of demons who want to break out and take over the actual world! It's accessible two ways: the Ginnunggagap gateway (guarded by Ratatosk), and a book. Lloyd's party finds the book in the first game, travels through Niflheim, and encounters/fights memory constructs of Mithos, Kratos and Yuan at the end before destroying the book--video and transcripts of that here.

Mithos's memory is set 4000 years before that! It's of encountering the book during his journey towards Ratatosk's Tree. He wanted to go through and destroy the book himself, but his party simply didn't have enough time to spare! So he hung back for a day or so to make some failsafe guardian constructs. Because. No one told him you couldn't do that kind of thing, I guess.

+ 100 demon world/Niflheim knowledge!
+ 80 awful sense of urgency except of course he knows how things panned out from other memories. But holy shit, being in such a rush he couldn't spare time for Tales game sidequests? THAT IS TERRIBLE
+ And then my exes were Personae and my children were magical copies of the origiparty. And a unicorn.
+ Knowledge of how to make constructs out of people's memories (though powercap and lack of skills will permanently prevent this in Aather.)
+ 20 what is my life!
+ 100 hilarity since Lloyd has the matching memory to this.
antreegonist: Mithos: blank/distant/sad (a single sea.)
* Asleep, at one with the mana of the Great Tree.

Won from Game 67: the Nobles' Ball, for Mother.

This is headcanon for what Mithos is like after dying. He's asleep, his soul is mingled with the other souls making up the flow of mana in the Great Tree, he finally gets to rest peacefully. There's not much sense of still being Mithos specifically, just being connected to something vast and alien--the world's mana network--and sensing the slow, macroscopic ebb and flow of it.

+ Yeah he is not going to understand what the fuck is going on here until he remembers dying too.
+ It is an objectively nice memory, though! Mrrrrr sleep and warmth and cosmic universal connectedness zen feelings.
+ Though he is pretty resolved to stay living when he finally leaves Aather rather than going back to this state :'D O-O-OPPOSITE OF CANON.
antreegonist: (the indwelling.)
* Reaching Ratatosk's withered Tree.

Won from Game 66: Houses for Automaton.

+ He had to get past armies to do this JFC.
+ Only Martel was with him at the time.
+ This was his goal! To reach the Tree and figure out a way to save it--military magitechnology was draining all the mana from the world faster than it could be replaced, and as a consequence the world was dying.
+ But the Tree itself was also dying and weak and aaaahhhh that was awful.
+ Includes entering the Ginnunggagap, possibly a crazy dungeon run, and the first meeting with Ratatosk and a couple of the Centurions (including Tenebrae.) DETAILS...LEFT VAGUE...IN CASE SOMEONE EVER APPS EMIL TO AATHER...though Ratatosk looked nothing like Emil back in the day.
+ The idea to gain power by making pacts with every Summon Spirit is not part of this memory! That probably took a while. This one was more convincing Ratatosk they were even there to help in the first place.
+ 20 realization that once upon a time, he was not wholly selfish.
+ 50 MITHOS THE HERO!!! drive which he is going to grab and work into his own and use, dammit.
+ 50 wish to apologize to the Summon Spirits.
+ 50 relief.
