* Fugitive, Judged and Neglected.
Won from Game 190: Murder mysteries for Marjory.
I'll replace this video with a thing that doesn't have voiceovers later but it's a long memory. Near endgame, Lloyd has to go rescue his party from where Mithos has trapped them in illusions and is trying to convince them to go over to the dark side, and then everyone has to fight three minibosses made out of the darkness in Mithos's soul.
The 'Fugitive' is the feeling of running away with nowhere to go; the Judged is the feeling that murderers should be punished regardless of the reasoning (Mithos going 'destroy all humans' because a human shanked his sister, here); the Neglected is bitterness against fantasy racism.
+ There's a layer of THIS IS REALLY STUPID here (because it is) but there's also a lot of invasiveness and projection and really quite terrible emotional manipulation happening and a lot of yelling. It's a highly private memory because it contains details about so many people's pasts but it's also one of the better ones for showcasing the spread of character feelings/ideologies, I think. Also, Lloyd's a spider. Also I guess bits of Mithos's soul get killed?
+ Not taken.
* "I know it's selfish, but...please stay with me tonight?"
Won from Game 197: Serah's heart.
Partway through his stint of traveling alone to gather most of the Summon Spirits, Mithos gets kind of depressed and lonely without his party and calls on the Spirits he's already pacted with outside of a battle, asking them if they'll keep him company for a while. It's strange and shy and moody and bittersweet; it's one of his very few hero-era memories of reaching out to people and starting to feel them out as friends.
-
* Sword artes, starting with Demon Fang and progressing through tiers.
Won from Skill Game 35: Skillswap for Mr. Right.
Self-explanatory, really.
+ SORDS
+ Not taken.
* Minimap.
Won from Skill Game 36: "What's in the box?" for Cecily/Masked Lady.
+ DUMB RPG SKILL THE UMPTEENTH HAVING A TINY MAP ON THE SCREEN though probably in Aather terms this just means it's a lot harder for him to get lost in dungeons and a lot easier to know where he's already been. Does not work in towns.

* EXTRA BODY IN THE CLOSET!
Won from game 179: winter outfit designs for Cassandra.
( snip )
+ Some fascination and academic interest, but largely body horror.
+ What has magic science done.
* The end of the Kharlan War.
Won from game 179: JabberQuest.
( snip )
+ WELL THAT WAS TRIUMPH. He has a huge amount of perspective that dampens it (blah blah ruined it all afterwards blah) but as an isolated memory it’s extremely uplifting.
+ This memory is, I think, the one that gives him a good personal taste of just how hard it is to start fixing a world long term as opposed to saving it in the short term; a pretty good perspective to have, considering long-term fixing is pretty much what he’s signed up for one he goes home.
+ Not taken.
* "I'm running out of time..." Possessing Colette; destroying the Tower of Salvation.
Won from game 181: Naoto’s heart.
( snip )
+ I think he already knew everything in here from other memories except that he physically destroyed the Tower, so it’s mostly just a case of lingering D|!!! here rather than OH GODDDD
+ He actually got the possession skill back a while ago now and didn’t want to use it ever again then; this memory reinforces that pretty well.
* Happy birthday.
Won from game 182: wordhunting for Nick.
( snip )
+ Nostalgiadere.
+ Remembering the concept of birthdays as a thing, ooh. Also his and Martel’s birthday dates as translated to the Symphonia calendar.
* Getting the talk from Martel.
Won from game 185: tricolor circus for Columbine.
( snip )
+ SHRIEK
+ Probably . . . won’t want to have sex for a little bit after taking this one, because terrifying flashbacks!?
+ Not taken.

* Battle cooking.
Won from skill game 32:redundant task completion the elements of Chance.
Mithos now has Tales cooking which is, I suppose, the one natural heal ability most Tales characters can have! The foods he makes, if he makes them a certain way, will restore your HP and/or MP by certain percentages (I don’t remember a lot of them off the top of my head but a sandwich cures 10% HP, for example – so, a small heal.) For powercap purposes most of the recipes are probably greatly reduced in efficacy and he can’t carry unreasonably large amounts of them around. But generally if he shoves a portable food item in your mouth after a big fight it is to your benefit to eat that sucker.

Mar. 1st, 2013 05:28 pm* Angel: Teleportation.
Won from Skill Game 31: Kisses for the Green Knight.
What it says on the tin! Mithos can now teleport. He can bring items or people with him up to a point, and has to be able to clearly visualize where he wants to get to or it won't work.
I'm treating this as an intermediate spell, so more than 2-3 uses in a day and he's exhausted. It's probably not a move that will come up in fights much, but it is a pretty good emergency ability.

Feb. 16th, 2013 11:21 am* Herbalism and medicine.
Won from Skill Game 28: Pirate crews for Hook.
Knowledge of plants, knowledge of how to distill and process plants into medicines, and the accumulated practice and experience to do it quickly and competently! He'll help out more in the clinic in this regard, probably experiment a bit more with Aather's strange fairytale flora, etc. etc. This is the last part of his doctor skillset.

* Sidequest: noble romance shenanigans :'|
Won from Game 128: Crime and punishment for the Queen of Hearts.
( 1 )
+ A-AMUSED . . .
+ We've long since passed the point where Mithos is seriously affected by objective trivials, but sidequest memories are nice because they show interaction with NPCs in past canon that's more mixed and variable and in-depth than the regular run of casually racist negativity/extremely positive exceptions that makes up most of his memories.
+ A lot of Symphonia sidequests are just plain derp but a lot of them also flesh out the world and its inhabitants more and drive Necessary Important Lessons in the main party's faces! It's a thing that Mithos ran into his share of these, and that the majority of them were geared towards learning that prejudice manifests in a range of ways and people are people and people can change. It's also a thing that because a big chunk of his journey turned into avoiding people after the fiasco of Tethe'alla, he ran into way fewer of these sidequests than your average Tales hero.
+ Alternate costume: fancy noblewoman's gown; anyone who is/becomes linked to his inventory is free to notice this in the key items page.
* Sidequest: formal/military.
Won from Game 129: Doll/exploradora for the Masked Lady.
( 2 )
+ Alternate costume: military dress outfit + riding boots; anyone who is/becomes linked to his inventory is free to notice this in his key items page.
+ A better understanding of the structures of actual knight training? Nothing in-depth, but it's recognizable to him now!
+ S-some aversion to riding animals 8D; THAT WASN'T FUN.
* Lessons with Martel.
Won from Game 135: Questions for Columbine and Madame White.
( 3 )
+ Siiiis.
+ Bittersweetness.
+ Knowledge of plants and their uses! The book-learning/rote memorization part, at least, which gggives him some grounding. He still absolutely needs his herbalism/medicine-making skill (which he hasn't earned yet) to back this up; it covers the actual practical expertise part.
* War games.
Won from Game 136: Guy Cecil's heart.
( 4 )
+ This is actually several kinds of messed up because it's incontrovertible proof that he was also messing with the half-elves for his own selfish purposes despite his pitch being that he'd make a better world for them! Basically he is a dick to . . . every race on Aselia. NONE WERE SPARED.
+ :'(
* Waking after the Great Seed is calmed.
Won from Game 140: Crime and punishment for Mother.
( 5 )
+ All he gets out of this one is ?!?!!?? STUFF WAS HAPPENING THINGS WERE SLIDING OUT OF CONTROL MARTEL WAS IN TROUBLE HIS HEAD HURT
-
* Elemental spells, intermediate tier.
Won from Skill Game 24: Speed dating for Hatter and Dormouse.
+ Upgrade on his available offensive magic!
+ Spread (water), Flame Lance (fire), Air Blade (wind), Grave (earth), Thunder Blade (lightning), Freeze Lancer (ice.) I don't know why the game gives him mixed T-Type and S-Type spells, okay.
+ As usual, the powercap damps these considerably, though they are reasonably stronger than his novice spells. He can do three on average per day if he doesn't use other magic, maybe four, though then he's careening towards powercap.
* Battle concentration.
Won from Game 138: Stories for Nimue.
+ One of Symphonia's higher-level passive skills for mages; allows Mithos to be able to run around on a battlefield/take a hit from a monster without it totally breaking his concentration on spellcasting and having to start over. YAY MULTITASKING.
-
Aaaand the memories he won after these get their own entry, because they are doozies.

[SKILL # 14]
May. 28th, 2012 11:44 pm* Inorganic: Cruxis Crystal miscellany. Possession; ghost projection; psychic bleed.
Won from Skill Game 21: Madlibs for Cheshire.
+ Bundle of fairly passive Exsphere abilities; they're mostly sleeper interesting rather than ones that will come up in day-to-day play.
+ 'Possession' -- he can possess someone's body and control them, if they're also wearing an Exsphere. The person can resist him if they're strong-willed! He doesn't want to do that to anyone and the only one he COULD possess in Aather is Lloyd Irving, so I doubt this will get used, but at least he has it . . . back (unsure)
+ 'Ghost projection' is more useful -- up until now, if Mithos's physical body is killed/he's drained too much, he is stuck in a tiny rock until he regains enough energy to rebuild himself solidly. Now he can make a ghost body and at least communicate and move himself out of danger in emergencies. Of course, if he's pouring energy into the ghost body it'll take longer for him to charge up enough to get the 'real' one back.
+ 'Psychic bleed' is just. An involuntary thing. If he's weakened/destroyed and someone boosts him with magic, they'll experience pieces of his memories as part of the feedback. Which memories depends on what's going on at the time.

May. 1st, 2012 09:22 am* Inorganic: Agefuck agefuck it's awwright.
Won from Skill Game 20: Build-a-world for Dream.
+ Bluh bluh ability to shift freely up and down in age, anywhere between the small child he remembers being and 'Yggdrasil,' the adult form he picked for himself in canon. Theoretically he could go all the way to babyhood or old age but that takes a lot more work than bodies he actually remembers being in. The change is physical, not mental. Notably, Aather's Mithos allowed to grow up naturally would look very different from Yggdrasil now.
+ This is decidedly more upsetting in Aather than it is in canon and he won't use the skill voluntarily :|a BODYFUCK IS BAD PINGS and he used the adult body solely as a tool for awful. I do want to play with it at least once and wrestle the character ramifications, so whenever he takes it he'll be stuck as Yggdrasil for a couple of IC days. I'll make a posttt with it and stuff.
+ Yggdrasil is like 6'5 or some ridiculous height around there? He's . . . going to walk into doorframes . . . and trip over himself a lot . . . and get tangled up in his own hair . . . and basically have no coordination . . .
+ also zack can you spare him a pair of pants oh my god

[SKILL # 12]
Feb. 26th, 2012 09:50 am* Illusions and mindfuck.
Earned from Skill Game 16: Ryner's heart.
+ This is a magic skill he has normally; it's boosted by his Exsphere, but doesn't stem directly from it.
+ Basic illusions are the standard 'make things look like other things' schtick, and are weaker than, say, Reborn-style illusions -- he can't craft a pony out of thin air and drop it on someone and break their shoulder! Bbbbut he can drop a real boulder on you to similar effect and make it look like a pony. Or make the edge of a cliff look farther away and make you walk off it. Or make Lloyd look like a giant spider. This is powercapped, small illusions cost less power than large ones, illusions that have to do with one sense cost less power than illusions that handle multiple senses, etc. Purely visual illusions are the easiest.
+ Mindfuck is both deeper and less user-determined; it's the ability to tell someone's brain to perceive stuff he doesn't actually know about. Like 'your greatest fear' or 'your greatest insecurity' or 'the person you love best complimenting you' or 'the person you hate most telling you that you're worthless.' The downsides are that he doesn't know what he'll get/what reactions these illusions will provoke, and sustaining them for about a minute gets him right into powercap sickness territory.
+ Both are breakable if you have sufficient willpower/awareness/etc. but the second is more difficult to break than the first.
+ He was already less susceptible to illusions because of sometimes being able to tell that the mana in them feels 'off,' but knowing what is actually up with them boosts that a bit.

[SKILL # 11]
Jan. 5th, 2012 09:09 pm* Swordfighting.
Won from Skill Game 14: Magical girls for the Green Knight.
Mithos uses a light, one-handed sword! It is probably an edged rapier or whatever they call that in Aselia.
That means he effectively has two weapon sets/styles in Aather. With the sword, he's been trained both formally by Kratos and in the RPG hero style (that is, kill lots of shit on the road until you are great at it), he's very good with it, but he's gone four months without it and it's not really a second-nature weapon anymore.
With dual knives, he has pretty much been trained from scratch by Lloyd and the Uchihas and worked out his own style (hilarity: the style there is ALSO the one taught by Kratos --> adapted for Lloyd's two swords --> adapted for Mithos's two knives and then with added ninja.) He is still learning and rough around the edges, but he's grown to prefer them as weapons and is comfortable with them.
But it's not like he wants to lose a useful regained skill either! Chances are he will train with both weapon types separately. There will be a long awkward period of working that out, until he's very very resettled into having both and using both and balancing them.
TL;DR Mithos has worn knives and been able to shank with them for a while; now he also wears a sword that he can shank with more efficiently; when he regains sword artes he'll also want to adapt them for the knife; you may see him train with either during the day; and now he legit seriously knows his way around a weapon. HOORAY!

Dec. 4th, 2011 06:32 pmITEM THE FIRST: I have forgotten to note it before, but Zack, Edmund and Mithos also co-own a ribbark named Admiral. He is a frog-dog hybrid, motorcycle-sized, with a robot eye. He wears a glass collar and can roam in and out of Sterling freely, and is derpy and very friendly. Feel free to have seen him around/interacted with him!
ITEM THE SECOND: I am infogathering (...f-finally) for Mithos's manasense!
( THE RUNDOWN )
+ AS A RULE I tend to limit this skill in games and play the Personae as feeling 'null' to him! I also check on people's stats/permissions, and he usually doesn't let on things like OH HELLO I SEE YOU ARE THE LORD OF DARKNESS WHAT unless it's . . . very situationally relevant.
BUT! Getting everything in one post would be nice! So I would appreciate it if people comment to this post with what pings he might get, and what pings, if any, you don't want him getting, because that can be handwaved easily enough too. ♥

Nov. 4th, 2011 02:12 pm* Angel: Wings, flight, levitation.
Earned in Skill Game 11: Tokens for Three of Three.
+ WINGS OF LIGHT they are pretty. He can also hover without calling his wings if he wants, though hovering will only take him a little way off the ground.
+ They are magical and thus a slow MP drain the longer he has them out! Wings and flight drain him faster than hovering does. He has rrroughly five to six hours of flight max in him per day if he doesn't need to do any other magic--except chances are he will.
+ Taking this skill changes his body to an angel body on top of being inorganic :'D ... it probably just pings as even further on the inhuman scale with a taste of light-elemental alignment! And his soul getting even more complicatedly tangled up with his Exsphere. He is now also weak to Dark magic in the manner of Pokemon.
+ Oh no sitting on everybody's roof oh no cliffdiving oh no DUMB BOY STUNTS. Until he gets the memories that make him sad to have the angel skillset too, I guess.

[SKILL # 8]
Sep. 27th, 2011 08:32 pm* 'Magi' side of magitech.
Earned from Skill Game 10: Boxes for Kiriko and the Masked Lady.
+ Four thousand years' worth of research and knowledge of magical theory/creation!
+ Pretty much all there is to know on how Exspheres, Cruxis Crystals and Key Crests work. Includes turning on and off some of the more negative effects and how to fix it if a normal person goes all soulless automaton/berserk monster from having theirs messed with. Great! He also knows in intricate detail how Exspheres are made/evolved by death and torture. Not so great!
+ This won't help with the worst of his own problems, because he never in his life...bothered to try reversing the process that made him inhuman. Good job Mithos. But at least he can trigger the internal switches that let him eat and sleep now.
+ He can now explain the principles/process of making COOL MAGIC STUFF. UNICORNS! SOUL GUNDAMS! SPACE PONIES!
+ Fine control of his elemental magic. Instead of being limited only to offensive spells and spending x mana points for x number of spells per day, he can fine-tune to get whatever result he wants--within reason. It is the Magical Swiss Army Knife skill; much more useful, and a much slower energy drain. He can still only do so much before hitting the powercap, though.
+ ...theoretically he could possess Lloyd or Zelos now? Will this ever be relevant in play. Probably not.
+ He's going to be unavailable for a while once he takes this. Oh god yes finally getting to sleep again yessss.

[SKILL # 7]
Sep. 9th, 2011 11:05 pm* Inorganic: Cruxis Crystal/soul fusion. Transformation of body into magical construct; loss of need to eat and sleep.
Won from Skill Game 9: Pirates for Peter Pan.
Yyyyeah. Mithos's soul and physical presence are now intertwined with the little rock made of dead people on his chest!
This skill will scare and anger and wreck him a lot! Being able to live as a normal person in a normal body in Aather is huge for him, especially given recent memories. He'll be struggling from this point to disentangle his soul from his Exsphere and return to normal. It is not something he can do without further skills and a lot of brute directed willpower--it's a long-term thing! So if once in a while you see him flat-out upset and exhausted over nothing, it's because he spent the day working on that. 8|b

Yyyyeah. Mithos's soul and physical presence are now intertwined with the little rock made of dead people on his chest!
- He now cannot take it off without vanishing into it; his body is no longer a regular body, but a constant magical projection from it that works like one. He's stopped growing.
- To the spiritually/magically-sensitive he'll ping as bloody weird now, and also inhuman and generally alive in a very strange way--an inorganic being.
- To the non-sensitive he'll seem normal except for one thing: he also has no personal scent, and only smells like whatever's around him/what he's been handling.
- If he gets killed or mortally wounded, he disappears; the Exsphere will remain and he can theoretically come back out of it if he has the strength! It has to be destroyed for him to be really 'dead.'
- If he gets killed, he also has to reassimilate himself from the skeleton up after his Exsphere regenerates. He can also heal any harm/maiming to himself, but only through that same full-body reconstruction.
- Constructing a whole body is incredibly painful and shoves him right up against powercap on a good day when he hasn't drained his reserves at all. If he's lower than full he may need outside help and will go past the cap and be sick; if he's very low on magic and no one feeds him any he'll be unable to regenerate/emerge from the Exsphere at all without a day of rest.
He has completely lost the ability to eat or sleep or feel like he has to do either beyond...phantom urges, basically.He got the skill to reverse this, but it is still an option for him.

[SKILL # 5]
May. 14th, 2011 12:33 amEarned in Game 34: THE FLOOR IS LAVA with Don Goyo.
Mithos's exsphere--a special type called a Cruxis Crystal--is now active! It is a rock on his chest made of compressed magic and the tortured souls of dead people. He keeps it covered, and it is very hard to sense in Symphonia canon unless people know exactly what they are looking for! But if you think your character will get pinged by it anyway, feel free to notice.
With powercap and canon considerations, Mithos's Crystal has somewhat different effects than Lloyd's. It gives him improved strength, endurance and reflexes, but nothing inhuman yet--that comes with a different skill. However! They are boosted to the level of a fit adult. He is also now stupidly fast, and his magic has been enhanced; while he has no spells back just yet, his manasense's range will increase a couple of feet all around and be generally sharper.
It has exactly the same effects if you mess with it physically, though: if you leave it on but take off the surrounding metal Key Crest, he becomes an emotionless automaton. If the Key Crest isn't replaced or you try to remove the Crestless exsphere, he transforms into a berserk monster.
FUN.

[SKILL # 4]
Apr. 30th, 2011 11:28 pmGiven by Beauty on Day 42.
So, cooking! This completes Mithos's SUPER HOUSEWIFE SKILL SET. He can now cook aaaaaanything you want and it will be amazing and delicious! He has the basic Symphonia recipes and then a crapload of other recipes and mostly he will just plain improvise depending on what he has. If he doesn't know how to make it, give him a good enough description and the right ingredients and he will damn well figure it out. He now knows he doesn't like the ready-prepped Sterling food because it's not made with enough love and he will fix that. He may also attempt an invasion of Onyx's kitchen, because dammit you guys COOKING. *___*
He also has comedic magical kitchen powers. If a herd of werecamels ever invades the Sterling kitchen they are going to be hit over the heads with pans, neatly butchered, and in the freezer in about five seconds. Super efficient!
This skill also boosts his knife fighting in Aather quite a lot! Short blades now feel completely natural in his hands, and he performs gutting/boning/chopping strokes with ease. Aw yes, synergizing earned skills with learned ones.
( I was also going to essay re: his choosing to take skills again, but now it is BULLET POINTS. )
Also, STERLONYX PIZZA PARTY @ THE WATERFALL sometime.
