*you're back on the island of Mithos's heart, on the dirt path through the meadow. the sky's still clouded and glassy, but it's no longer storming: you've arrived in the middle of a sunshower.

the freestanding door is there in its pool. the surrounding fog has thinned to translucence -- you can see a couple of large, four-legged shapes moving in it.*

[I am just going to be quietly happy to the bone and kind of damp-eyed at you for a little while okay. don't tell anyone.

wipes his eyes again, after a moment.]

*tightens the fffeelings around you a little more thoroughly, gratitude sounding out of their scale. another emotional hug, as it were.*

[okay :X leans into it physically, putting a little more weight against his hands on the stone, which is about all he can consciously do. but. . . sentiment returned regardless, if pillars can pick up on that kind of thing.]

*it is indeed picked up and acknowledged. the stone is warm against your hands, and solid, and seems to be a little . . . more there in response.*

[brotagonist]

*hey . . . want to come up?*

Come up? Sure...

*nothing shifts visually, but . . . your perception does, in a way. there are definite shapes you didn't notice before, in the patterns of cracks on the column, growing clearer and clearer. a doorway with somebody standing there -- is it the Mithos in the cage, his hand lifted in greeting? or is it a different one? in a lot of ways, they're the same . . .*

[waits. . .]

[antreegonist]

*for a moment, they are the same thing. something important passes there.

and then the new one steps out of the gateway; it's Mithos as you see him every day in Aather . . .*

[brotagonist]

. . . hey.

*haha -- wrapping an arm around you. you can feel from him what you felt from the columns, in terms of presence.*
